Since I had been recommended different skate sizes at various shops, it took me a long time to figure out which size truly fit my feet—I had even previously purchased a pair of Bauer Colorado 2.0s in size 7.
Here are my thoughts on the Bauer Supreme F50 Pro (Size 6.5 Wide) I recently bought.
1. Why did I choose this model?
First and foremost, I wanted skates that fit my feet well. After trying on various products, I discovered that the Bauer Supreme series in Size 6.5 Fit3 offered the most comfort. That left the question of which specific model to choose. The "Fuse" is the ultimate skate; everyone knows that. YouTube is full of reviews and impressions of it. If I were a pro player, I would have chosen the Fuse. But I’m just an average guy whose hockey skating skills are a bit clumsy. The idea of buying the Fuse—hoping it might come in handy someday—was blocked by an impassable river of reality; it was simply beyond my reach. Yet, I still had a desire to own a high-quality skate. So, I made my choice. I probably won't be able to fully utilize the performance capabilities of these skates given my skill level; the F40 model would likely have been sufficient. However, the F40 was sold out, and the F50 Pro happened to be on sale. So, I bought it.
2. How does it feel to wear them?
Cars like the Nissan Versa and Hyundai Elantra are affordable, yet they function perfectly as vehicles. They get me to my destination without any issues. However, if you spend a little more money, you can enjoy greater comfort, more responsive acceleration and deceleration, and more stable cornering. For me, the F50 Pro is that kind of skate. The sturdy boot supports my lack of technical skill, while the Fly-X runner allows for faster, more precise movement across the ice; meanwhile, the Lock-Fit Pro liner and padding keep my feet stable and comfortable during four-hour skating sessions. My feet measure 10.2 inches (258mm) in length and are wide with a high instep, yet I have short toes and narrow, small heels. I had been looking for skates that wouldn't cramp my toes, press down on my instep, or leave my heels loose—and this model delivered on every front.
3. Who do I recommend this to?
Anyone looking to buy new skates who finds top-tier models too expensive but isn't satisfied with cheap options. While the F40 and F30 are certainly excellent skates, keep in mind that buying the best model right away is often the most cost-effective choice in the long run. I believe the F50 Pro is the ultimate choice for anyone who doesn't play hockey with the same intensity as a professional—though, to be fair, my own "beer league" play is plenty intense, even if it’s less about professional-grade athleticism and more about sheer, desperate grit.
